Alpine Delicatessen

The Alpine Deli is a charming, family-owned German Deli in downtown Spokane. The owners, Andrea Lejeune-Weiler and Darin Weiler, opened their deli on June 4, 2019, but the Alpine Deli has a long history in Spokane, and they are incredibly excited and grateful to be a part of it. The original owner was from Austria, and bought Hoerner’s Deli on Division in 1976, and turned it into the Alpine Deli – a German deli and grocery store. He moved it to its current location in 1988, and operated the deli until it’s closing in 2013. Andrea worked for the original owner at the deli, from June 2007 until it’s last day, on December 31, 2013. As a German living in Spokane, the deli was her connection to home, and brought with it the sense of community she so desperately sought. She fell in love with the Alpine Deli and the service it provided to Spokane’s large German community. Unfortunately, when it closed in 2013, the timing wasn’t right for Andrea to realize her dream of owning the deli. It remained under new ownership for approximately 5 years, but in 2019 everything finally came together! Andrea and Darin got ready to start their business venture, the deli building was for lease, and they re-opened it in the spirit of the original Alpine Deli, with some fresh ideas and personal touches. Andrea and Darin had a bread oven and hood installed in the kitchen, and found a company that ships bread dough from Germany! Between the dough and her own creations, Andrea is proud to offer fresh German bread and rolls every day! You can find a large assortment of European cheeses, and German grocery items. The Alpine Deli works with various butchers throughout the country, all started by Germans, to provide a selection of German lunchmeats and sausages, to please even the most demanding palates. Andrea has recently begun making her own Bratwursts in house as well! In colder months, the Alpine Deli offers a daily soup, and their regular lunch menu gets enhanced with the occasional special. They offer a variety of German baked goods, which vary by time on hand, and seasonal availability. Scones are not a German thing, but due to customer demand they started making scones, and they have become so popular they offer a different flavor every day! [read more]
