The definition of kismet, to us, means fate, serendipity. We as a couple have always used this word for anything fortuitous that has happened to, or for, us. Finally being able to open our own restaurant has been beyond “kismet” for us. We are ecstatic to be in the up and coming Hillyard area in Spokane. The people here have taught us the true meanings of spirit, loyalty, and pride. It makes us overjoyed to be working as a couple for ourselves instead of separately and for other people. Daniel Gonzalez went to the Art Institute of Seattle to earn his culinary degree. He worked in many up-and-coming restaurants until meeting his mentor in the Capitol Hill area of Seattle. At that point, he gravitated towards the private sector before moving back home to Spokane to be closer to family. His time in Seattle afforded him the opportunity to refine his skill set in classic French and Italian techniques. During his tenure in Spokane, he has worked in several restaurants, the most recent being with the Eat Good Group for over six years. His approach to cuisine is a blend of his classic training mixed with recipes from his abuelitas. The passion comes from his heart, the skill from his hands. Monica York started bartending in college. Her passion and heart for people, along with jokes most don't get, is the reason she knew that a career in the industry was for her. She has been in the Spokane area for several years, refining those jokes, and adding skill and knowledge to her repertoire. Her love and kindness shows in all she does, her following is above reproach, and her attention to detail is extraordinary. She consistently goes above and beyond, doing whatever it takes to make guests happy, it shows in her sparkling smile, she is without a doubt the backbone of hospitality that Kismet is founded upon. Litz’s Pub & Eatery was established in 2008. Litz’s Bar and Grill has actually been around since the 70’s it’s first location was in the General Store Parking Lot! It moved to it’s current location about 30 years ago. We have the largest pull-tab bar in Spokane with over 30 games to choose from. 1 pool tables, 1 shuffleboard, pinball, 2 dart boards and 8 TVs. We have a full-size beach volleyball court which you can play day or night (it’s lighted) and a patio that seats 80. Giant Jenga. Corn hole. Heaters to keep the chill off when it’s cold and misters to keep you cool when it’s hot. We have, I believe friendliest staff in town with something going on every day of the week!
